Loudermilk Fights to Keep Gitmo Detainees in Guantanamo Bay
Washington,
September 15, 2016
The House passed a bill today that prohibits any funds from being used to transfer Guantanamo Bay detainees. Rep. Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement:
“Guantanamo Bay is working. The world’s most dangerous terrorists sit in those cells, isolated from the rest of the world for our safety and protection. No prisoner has ever escaped from Gitmo; but instead of insisting they stay, the administration is determined to move the terrorists into American communities – cities, towns, and suburbs. Over the past few years, our president has transferred 181 highly dangerous terrorists to various locations, including the U.S. “I am having a difficult time understanding why this administration is so adamant about putting American lives in danger for the comfort of enemy combatants. But regardless of this president’s blatant disregard for our safety, we will keep fighting to protect our citizens who deserve to feel safe in their communities.” Background H.R. 5351, "To prohibit the transfer of any individual detained at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Act," may be read HERE. |
