Rep. Loudermilk on Final Passage of FY24 NDAA
Washington,
July 14, 2023
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA sets Department of Defense (DoD) policies and authorizes funding levels for U.S. defense programs.
“House Republicans today passed an NDAA that increases our military’s lethality and decreases the wokeness that has been infused in its ranks in recent years. This bill also ensures our military are better equipped and trained to combat Russian and Chinese aggression during these dangerous times. “This NDAA contains many Republican initiatives, like providing our troops with the largest pay raise in twenty years, protecting life by preventing DoD from paying for transportation for military members to get an abortion, and increased oversight of Ukraine funding. I opposed the U.S. sending cluster munitions to Ukraine, but this amendment failed to make it into the final bill. One provision I’m particularly proud of was my amendment, which will help improve our military’s readiness as it pertains to modernizing the Navy’s C-130 fleet.” |
