Lawmakers representing Cobb County vote along party lines in Trump impeachment inquiry

Two of the three U.S. Congress members representing parts of Cobb County voted in favor of impeachment proceedings for President Donald Trump Thursday morning.

"Two of the three U.S. Congress members representing parts of Cobb County voted in favor of impeachment proceedings for President Donald Trump Thursday morning.

U.S. Reps. Lucy McBath, D-Marietta, and David Scott, D-Atlanta, both voted 'yes' to the resolution setting out ground rules for the impeachment inquiry into Trump, which passed 232-196 in the House.

U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Cassville, voted "no," like every other Republican who voted.

'This latest rush to impeach is merely the Russia collusion conspiracy repackaged,' Loudermilk said in a news statement after the vote. 'What I’d like to see, instead of trying to impeach a duly elected president who is doing a great job for the American people, is for Speaker Pelosi and Democratic leaders to bring legislation to the floor that will continue to build this country up, not tear it apart.'
