Rep. Loudermilk Sworn in for the 116th Congress

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after being sworn in for the 116th Congress:

“Today, as I was being sworn in for the 116th Congress, I placed my hand on a Bible [pictured above] like those issued to soldiers during World War II. This Bible, similar to the one issued to my father, a WWII veteran, reminds me of the importance of God in my life and in the founding of this great nation. While our country is currently entrenched in a debate over much needed border security, and a partial government shutdown being the result of this political impasse, we cannot forget the reason we are all here: to ensure we have a nation that is free, safe and full of opportunity. Eventually, this debate will come to an end and new challenges will emerge, but I will continue to stand firmly on my faith and the U.S. Constitution as I represent Georgia’s 11th Congressional District.”
