Rep. Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after leading on a letter sent to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, to cut down on unnecessary regulations:
“If it doesn’t have an engine, exhaust pipes, or the ability to move on its own, it’s not a ‘self-propelled vehicle.’ However, the EPA, under Obama, defined truck trailers as self-propelled vehicles so it could expand its regulatory reach beyond the limits set by Congress. Now that we have new leadership at the helm, I am again leading an effort to have EPA remove this harmful provision. This, along with other nonsensical regulations by the EPA, actually do more harm to the environment, than good. This rule would result in more trucks on the road - to carry the same amount of goods - which means there will be more fuel burned, causing more emissions. We need smaller, more accountable and transparent agencies that work with Congress and the states to develop and implement sound policies that benefit all Americans and promote our economic prosperity. I am looking forward to working with Administrator Pruitt on fresh, new ideas in the EPA.”
