Rep. Loudermilk: Capitalism Creates Jobs and a Higher Standard of Living

A $15 minimum wage could potentially undo the tremendous growth we have seen in our economy since President Trump took office; and, this legislation could result in the American economy losing 3.7 million jobs - that’s almost one job lost per-household in the state of Georgia.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House voted on the Raise the Wage Act, H.R. 582:

“A $15 minimum wage could potentially undo the tremendous growth we have seen in our economy since President Trump took office; and, this legislation could result in the American economy losing 3.7 million jobs - that’s almost one job lost per-household in the state of Georgia. Even Bill Gates and Warren Buffett agree, a $15 minimum wage could ‘reduce employment in a major way,’ and result in ‘automation.’

“Our thriving economy continues to produce higher wages, more jobs, and the lowest unemployment in half a century; and there are more jobs available right now than there are workers to fill them. Republicans have always been among the staunchest advocates of higher wages and a higher standard of living for everyone; but, the way to achieve this is not through government mandates, but through capitalism and the free market, a system which has lifted more people out of poverty than any system of government in the history of the world.”
