Rep. Loudermilk on Passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act

Washington, D.C. (June 23, 2026) | Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement following passage of H.R. 6644 – the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.

“Today, I voted to support safe, accessible, and affordable housing, which is vital to strengthening our communities and ensuring that hardworking Americans have a chance to achieve the American Dream. Across the country, families continue to face rising housing costs, limited supply, and unnecessary barriers that make it harder to become a homeowner.

“Reducing burdensome regulations, increasing housing supply, and improving federal housing programs will better serve American families, creating more opportunities for homeownership and economic stability. Congress must continue advancing policies that promote growth, opportunity, and a stronger future for families across our nation.”

21st Century ROAD to Housing Act Includes:

  • Efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing and address the nation’s housing shortage.
  • Reduction of unnecessary regulatory barriers which make housing development more costly.
  • Modernizing federal housing programs to better meet the needs of communities and families.
  • Supporting policies that encourage responsible housing construction and development.
  • Improving access to homeownership opportunities, including first-time buyers.
  • Promoting greater transparency and accountability within federal housing programs.
  • Strengthening partnerships between federal, state, and local stakeholders.
  • Commonsense reforms to help lower housing costs and expand housing availability.
