  In the News: Rep. Foster & Rep. Loudermilk Introduce Bill to Strengthen Digital Identity Infrastructure  
  MeriTalk:

Reps. Bill Foster, D-Ill., John Katko, R-N.Y., Jim Langevin, D-R.I., and Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., have introduced legislation that aims to modernize the United States’ digital identity infrastructure and protect Americans from having their personal information stolen.

The Improving Digital Identity Act of 2021 would establish a task force of Federal, state, and local leaders “to develop secure methods for government agencies to validate identity attributes to protect the privacy and security of individuals, and support reliable, interoperable digital identity verification tools in the public and private sectors,” according to a press release.

  In the News: Americans Are Leaving Unemployment Rolls More Quickly in States Cutting Off Benefits  
  Wall Street Journal:

The number of unemployment-benefit recipients is falling at a faster rate in Missouri and 21 other states canceling enhanced and extended payments this month, suggesting that ending the aid could push more people to take jobs.

Federal pandemic aid bills boosted unemployment payments by $300 a person each week and extended those payments for as long as 18 months, well longer than the typical 26 weeks or less. The benefits are set to expire in early September, but states can opt out before then.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said the benefits were helpful during the height of the pandemic, but their continuation has “worsened the workforce issues we are facing.”

  Rep. Loudermilk Supports Effort to Help Local Radio Stations & Bill to Hold Iran Accountable  
  Rep. Loudermilk recently joined and cosponsored the following House Resolutions and bills:

Supporting the Local Radio Freedom Act, H. Con. Res. 33 (Rep. Castor)

• Declares that Congress should not impose any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge relating to the public performance of sound recordings on a local radio station for broadcasting sound recordings over the air, or on any business for such public performance of sound recordings. 

Maximum Pressure Act Rep. Banks (R-IN)
Codifies the Trump-era maximum pressure campaign on Iran and would increase/reimpose sanctions on Iran
