Trafficking Victims Pathway to Justice

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 1865 the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act of 2017:

“Whether we choose to believe it or not, sex trafficking is a huge problem here in the United States, and it is time we bring those responsible to justice. In 2016, my home state of Georgia ranked sixth in the nation for reported human trafficking cases, but regardless of where you live, states need the tools necessary to prosecute and convict those involved in this horrendous crime. Thankfully, this bill will hold websites accountable for unlawfully facilitating and promoting sex trafficking – accountability which they will no longer be able to avoid due to outdated law.”
