New C-130J Squadron to take flight in Georgia

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after the United States Air Force announced Georgia as one of the four states set to receive a squadron of C-130J Super Hercules aircraft – an aircraft which is solely manufactured in Georgia’s 11th Congressional District.

“This is a big win for the United States Military, our men and women in uniform, and our ability to quickly respond to conflicts across the globe. With the addition of these new C-130Js to Georgia, the world’s preeminent military superpower just got stronger. Every C-130J is manufactured in Georgia’s 11th Congressional District, at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Marietta, which employs close to 5,000 hardworking Georgians.

“I have long advocated for increased C-130J production because they are the only U.S. airlifter still in production, and I’ve often emphasized the importance of having a squadron of C-130Js for the Georgia Air National Guard. I want to thank Barbara Barrett, Secretary of the Air Force, for supporting Georgia’s Air National Guard. I’d also like to thank Georgia Adjutant General, Thomas Carden, for his steadfast leadership and his tireless dedication to increasing opportunities for Georgia guardsmen.”
