Longest Government Shutdown in History Ends; Republicans Re-open Government Despite Democrat Opposition

Washington, D.C. (November 12, 2025) – Rep. Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) issued the following statement following passage to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371:

“Republicans are eager to get back to work for the American people after Democrats kept the government closed for more than forty days because they were more concerned about an election than they were about the rest of the country. Now that a handful of common-sense Democrats have chosen to end their political gamesmanship and have joined Republicans in re-opening the government, President Trump can get this signed, and we can continue to deliver on our pro-family, pro-business, pro-America agenda.”

Passage of Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371 delivers for Georgia’s 11th Congressional District:

• ATC Workers: Backpay for ATC and federal workers that have been working without pay during the shutdown.
• Dobbins ARB: $3.2 million for planning and designing a new Entry Control Facility.
• Veteran Care: Full year funding for veterans’ care and assistance programs.
• Farmers: Full year funding of Dept. of Agriculture – critical support and assistance for farmers.
• SNAP and WIC: Full year of funding.
• Military Construction projects: $511.2 million for military construction projects in Georgia.
