U.S. Congressman Barry Loudermilk
Last week, we held the first Georgia Congressional Career Expo for Veterans and Reservists – and it was a great success. The expo featured dozens of employers and hundreds of veterans and reservists looking for jobs.

A big ‘Thank you!’ to the Georgia Congressional Delegation - who helped promote and support this event - and to Kennesaw State University, for allowing us to host this event in their Convocation Center.

Our veterans and reservists paid their dues to protect our freedoms, and it’s time we ‘pay-it-forward’ by helping them transition from their military service, to the private sector.

Press Release of the Week: House Cuts $15 Billion from Bureaucrat Coffers

Rep. Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House passed the $15 billion Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act (H.R. 3):

The Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act cut $15 billion of unspent taxpayer dollars from agency coffers that bureaucrats had tucked away. This historic act is another step in our efforts to get the federal government’s fiscal house in order.”

In the News: Federal civil service abuses bigger than just the VA

  From the Daily Torch:

When news broke of employees at the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) putting the lives of veterans at risk with waiting lists to die, the country was outraged. When it became clear that these employees were not being terminated for their failures and mismanagement, Florida Senator Marco Rubio led bipartisan legislation that protected whistleblowers and provided management the authority to remove bad employees. Unfortunately, the VA is not the only department allowing bad employees to stay on the job despite grotesque violations of employee guidelines and even the law. Here we highlight some of the worst stories of civil service abuse in recent years and how they have been allowed to occur.
