Press Release: Loudermilk, McBath Introduce Resolution Commemorating 40 Years of The Weather Channel
Today, U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath and U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, both from Georgia, introduced a resolution commemorating the 40 years of service that the Weather Channel has provided to the American people. Since its launch on May 2, 1982, the Weather Channel’s tireless efforts to keep viewers safe, informed, and entertained are deserving of recognition and celebration.
“The Weather Channel is a trustworthy media organization that I have relied upon as a resource since serving in the U.S. Air Force, and during my days spent as a private aviator. For forty years, they have provided consistent, in-depth analysis of the weather, allowing Georgians in the Eleventh District, and Americans across the country to make vital decisions when faced with inclement weather. Happy 40th anniversary to the Weather Channel,” said Loudermilk.

Press Release: Rep. Loudermilk Statement After Being Sanctioned by Russia for Supporting Ukraine
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after he was sanctioned by Russia for supporting Ukraine:
“Being sanctioned by Russia only reaffirms and galvanizes my support for Ukraine as they continue to defend their country from an unprovoked and unjust invasion. I have supported every military aid funding package that has come through Congress, and urge the Biden administration go even further and provide Ukraine with the MiGs they have been asking for. I also call on President Biden to be consistent in his condemnation of Russia and Vladimir Putin. President Biden has called Putin a war criminal and said he’s committing acts of genocide, which is true, but he’s still using Russia to help renegotiate the terrible nuclear deal with Iran. This is the type of weak leadership Putin preys upon and will continue to exploit at the expense of innocent civilians in Ukraine.”

In the News: US Economy Unexpectedly Shrinks 1.4% in First Quarter of 2022: Is a Recession Looming?
Fox Business:
The economy unexpectedly shrank in the first quarter of 2022, marking the worst quarter economically in the past two years, according to new data released Thursday from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).
Real gross domestic product (GDP) decreased at an annual rate of 1.4%, according to the BEA's advance estimate. This is down significantly from the 6.9% GDP growth rate seen in the fourth quarter of 2021, marking the steepest drop since the spring of 2020. The drop was led by a fall in private inventory investments, exports, federal government spending and state and local government spending. Simultaneously, imports — which are a subtraction from the GDP — increased.
