I believe our education system is in dire need of reform, and I believe this can be accomplished by empowering families, individual teachers, and state level decision makers to set standards that help students meet their personal goals and aspirations. Our schools help shape our young people’s thoughts, and it is vital that they teach history and civics in an unbiased way.
I have consistently voted in favor of legislation to keep educational authority in the hands of parents, students, and local communities, rather than the federal government. During the 118th Congress, my House Republican colleagues and I passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights. This critical legislation ensures that parents are given more transparency about curriculum from schools and more input on what their children are being taught.
