Defense

Georgia has thirteen major military installations, including Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning) which supports more than 120,000 active-duty military, family members, reservists, military retirees, and civilian employees daily. Additionally, over 64,000 active-duty personnel, and 600,000 veterans live in Georgia.

Georgia’s 11th Congressional District is the proud home to Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta. Located sixteen miles northwest of Atlanta, it is one of only nine stand-alone Reserve bases in the Air Force Reserve. Dobbins Air Reserve Base is also home to the 94thAirlift Wing, 22nd Air Force Headquarters, Lockheed Martin Plant 6, Georgia National Guard Headquarters, Navy Operational Support Center Atlanta, and units of the Army Reserve, Marine Reserve, and the Civil Air Patrol. The 94th Airlift wing supports the C-130H3 Hercules aircraft and more than 2,000 U.S. Air Force Reserve and civilian personnel.

As a United States Air Force veteran who served in communications and intelligence, I understand the vital need to restore strength in our military and ensure it is well-prepared with the equipment and training necessary to protect our nation.

At a time when our nation faces numerous threats from across the globe, we must provide our armed forces with the resources needed to boost readiness, deter our adversaries, and ensure we remain the best equipped and most lethal fighting force in the world. Our service members cannot be distracted by woke social justice polices that undermine our military’s purpose, character, and traditions, or be used to advance a political agenda.

I strongly supported the final negotiated language for H.R. 5009, the Service Member Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2025 during House passage in December, 2024. This critical legislation makes vital investments to deter Russian and Chinese aggression, defend our ally Israel, boosts our warfighting capabilities, and diminishes some of the woke agenda infused in our military in recent years. It also makes necessary improvements to service member quality of life, provides our troops with needed pay-increases, and secures critical funding for our own Dobbins Air Reserve Base.

In the 119th Congress, I will continue to support a strong, well-equipped military. I will also work to ensure fiscal discipline and adequate funding to maintain the safety and security of our nation when national security and defense spending priorities come to the House floor for a vote.
