I believe the American people, not the federal government, should be in control of their own healthcare. Rather than an approach that restrains personal choice and raises costs, we should find ways to create greater choice, lower costs, improve access to quality care, and ensure that we are not leaving out those Americans with pre-existing conditions. Like you, I want people to be in good health, and I have great appreciation for the healthcare professionals in this country, as they meet the needs of our communities.
Ultimately, as with all healthcare decisions, I believe the best decision makers are individuals and families, in consultation with their own healthcare providers. I am optimistic that Congress can come together to address our nation’s healthcare issues, and bring our nation back to patient-centered programs that help, not hurt, the American people.
