In the News: Border agents took 172,331 into custody in March, statistics show

  Washington Post:

"During the busiest month along the Mexico border in nearly two decades, U.S. authorities took 172,331 migrants into custody in March, according to enforcement statistics released Thursday that provide a stark measure of the challenges facing the Biden administration.

"The total included 18,890 teens and children who arrived without parents, a record quantity that overwhelmed U.S. shelter capacity and produced crisis-level crowding inside government border tents. The March statistics from U.S. Customs and Border Protection show the fastest-growing group were members of family units: 52,904 were taken into custody in March, up from 19,246 in February."

In the News: Business group's study says corporate tax hike would cost 1M jobs

  The Hill:

"One million jobs would be lost in the first two years if the corporate tax rate increased to 28 percent and other policies went into effect, according to a new study from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).

NAM, in a study conducted by Rice University economists, calculated the impact of increasing the corporate tax rate to 28 percent, increasing the top marginal tax rate, repealing the 20 percent pass-through deduction, and eliminating certain expensing provisions."

In the News: Justice Thomas shows how we can end Big Tech censorship for good

  New York Post:

"On Monday, Justice Clarence Thomas announced that the Supreme Court soon will have to put an end to Big Tech tyranny. Amen. If the high court fails to act, it could mean the end of free speech in the 21st century and the shriveling of our constitutional rights to mere “paper rights” — still there on paper but functionally hollowed out.

"Thomas cited the problem of social-media platforms like Facebook and Google wielding unlimited power to censor users whose views they don’t like. His opinion offers hope at a time when Democrats controlling Congress are demanding that tech giants censor more. On March 25, Democrats on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce ordered tech CEOs to silence views that 'undermine social-justice movements."

In the News: U.S. Department of Energy Awards $5 Million to the Next Generation of Nuclear Scientists and Engineers

  Department of Energy:

"The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced more than $5 million in scholarships and fellowships for students across the country pursuing degrees in nuclear energy and engineering. These awards through the Office of Nuclear Energy’s Integrated University Program will invest in the next generation of nuclear energy leaders, so that they can develop innovative solutions to today’s challenges and help America meet the Biden Administration’s ambitious goals of 100% clean electricity by 2035, and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

" 'Aiding our children’s educational and developmental needs, so they are better equipped to tackle the problems of tomorrow, is why scholarships and fellowships are important,' said U.S. Representative Barry Loudermilk. 'I have no doubt that the students pursuing degrees in nuclear energy at Kennesaw State University will benefit from this aid, and will apply it to furthering their future careers.' "
