President Joe Biden delivered his second State of the Union address Tuesday in front of a divided Congress, with a new Republican majority in the House.


On Wednesday, Georgia Congressman Barry Loudermilk joined Atlanta’s Morning News to weigh in on the President’s remarks.


“I think he let the American people down tremendously last night,” Loudermilk told 95.5 WSB’s Judd Hickinbotham.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address to the nation: 


"President Biden had the world stage last night, with the opportunity to address the struggles our country, and individuals across the nation, are facing, offer solutions to these problems, and give the country confidence in our future; but he failed miserably.


"Americans who expected to hear about our vulnerability to spying by our top adversary, China, walked away without him even addressing the issue. Those concerned about our economy, which is struggling to avoid a full-blown recession, were only told that the economy is great. For those desperate to hear solutions for the nationwide rampant rise of violent crime against Americans, we were given tough talk about aggressively hunting down and prosecuting those who fraudulently took COVID bailout money.

In the News: Biden speech barely mentions global threats to U.S. despite his experience

 

Washington Times: 


The icy diplomatic relationship between the countries also took a significant hit. A planned trip by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Beijing for high-level talks last weekend was abruptly canceled after the balloon was spotted high over the western United States.

Critics say Mr. Biden missed an opportunity to send a stronger message to China and only scratched the surface of the Russia-Ukraine war, which is nearing its second year.
