A Message from Rep. Loudermilk: House Democrats Want to Federalize Our Elections

Press Release of the Week: Rep. Loudermilk Selected to Serve as Co-Chair of the Fintech and Payments Caucus
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after he was chosen to serve as a co-chair of the Congressional Fintech and Payments Caucus (CFTPC) for the 116th Congress:

“Several years ago, I led an effort in the Georgia state legislature to study how Georgia could incentivize and grow its technology sector. As a result of this comprehensive study, along with several years of pro-growth policies emerging from the state capitol, Georgia has become a global economic force, especially in the financial technology [fintech] sector.

"Today, because of Georgia’s flourishing fintech industry, more than two-thirds of all electronic transactions in the United States are processed by a Georgia-based payments company. Georgia fintech and payments companies employ nearly 40,000 professionals in our state, and more than 130,000 around the world. In just two years, the number of these companies in Georgia has grown nearly 40 percent, earning Georgia the nicknames, ‘Transaction Alley’ and the ‘Silicon Valley of the South.’ A major reason for this success is the business-friendly environment of our state, and it’s been noticed, as Georgia has repeatedly been named the number one state to do business.

In the News: Congressman David Scott (D-GA) and Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) Introduce Bipartisan Legislation Setting up Federal Financial Regulatory Clarity for Startup Fintech Companies
Today Congressman David Scott (GA-13), a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee and Co-Chairman of the bipartisan Fintech and Payments Caucus, and Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) introduced H.R. 1491, the FINTECH Act of 2019.

Congressman Barry Loudermilk, also a member of the House Financial Services Committee and Co-Chair of the bipartisan Fintech and Payments Caucus, agreed with Congressman Scott saying, “As startup companies develop new technologies that help consumers take more control of their finances, they risk an onslaught of government agencies rushing in with new regulations. The mad dash for regulatory control often results in conflicting regulations from multiple agencies, which stifles innovation, ultimately harming consumers. Georgia is a leader in fintech and payments processing, and our bill will help these job creators grow and thrive by streamlining and clarifying the regulatory process for startup fintech companies. I appreciate my friend, Congressman David Scott, for his leadership on this important legislation.”

In the News: Kennesaw Mountain On The Verge Of Adding 8 Acres — And More History
  From WABE:

"After more than a decade of trying, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is likely – finally – going to get to grow.

The park stands to add two historic sites from the Civil War that would allow the park, which now mostly focuses on the Confederate Army’s side of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, to tell a broader story.

The Wallis House, a white painted old farmhouse set back from the road on a little weedy hill, is one of those sites. It was built in 1853, said Nancy Walther, superintendent of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield."

From Our Constituent Services Desk …
Not many things in life can be as stressful as an injury or illness preventing you from obtaining or maintaining gainful employment. Unfortunately, many face this dilemma and find themselves needing to file for Social Security Disability.

Our Congressional office is here to assist you in this most difficult time. While we have no control over the final determination made by the Social Security Administration (SSA), we can provide you with updates on your claim and find out what medical records may be needed to move forward with your application for disability benefits. We can also monitor the status of your pending hearing request or remind you as to what appointments SSA has made on your behalf.

Social Security pays disability benefits to people who cannot work because they have a medical condition that is expected to last at least one year, or may result in death. To obtain more information, or to apply, please visit the Social Security website.

If you have a pending claim, be sure to keep the agency updated with your latest medical records; and, you may file for reconsideration if you are denied. An appeal filed promptly will ensure your claim is re-activated and processed to the next level of review. If you have already been awarded disability, you can manage your benefits by creating your free my Social Security account.
