“Hardworking Americans do not need to be reminded of the numerous crises facing our country, because they are experiencing them every day. Americans are tired of Washington elitists ignoring them while going to the mainstream media and insisting that everything is okay. Americans are also tired of the idle promises from Congress, and are demanding their elected representatives acknowledge the failures of government and take bold and decisive action to address these issues. They know the problem is failed leadership and broken promises by the Administration and the majority in Congress.

“Thank you, Madam Speaker. And I do thank my friend, Ranking Member Davis, for yielding this time. I want to address something that I heard just a few moments ago from my colleague from Wyoming – listing off a number of ‘conservative commentators’ about how great this bill is, and that's why we should vote on it. Well, see, that's the problem of why we're here right now. None of those conservative commentators are responsible for casting a vote for something that will affect the future of this country.

In the News: Rep. Loudermilk Says Abortion Issue Should Be Left Up to the States

Republicans from Georgia and other states are sending mixed messages on abortion, both claiming the issue should be left up to states while supporting a new federal ban.
U.S. Reps. Buddy Carter, Andrew Clyde, Jody Hice, Barry Loudermilk and Austin Scott are all co-sponsors of the House version of legislation South Carolina U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham proposed to restrict abortion access after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
“After the Dobbs decision, this is really something that should be handled at the state level,” he said. “Even though we could do something here, what the courts were saying is, that’s really not within the scope of federal authority. It’s not within the enumerated powers in Congress.”
