Press Release: Rep. Loudermilk on Resolution to Remove Congresswoman Greene from Committees

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga) issued the following statement after the House voted on H.Res. 72:

“While I disagree with many comments made by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, especially those she made before she was an elected member of Congress, this motion by Democrats for the House to remove her from her assigned committees is unprecedented, and sets a very dangerous precedent. Just as Nancy Pelosi has twice used impeachment as a tool against a political rival, she is further abusing her power as Speaker to remove a Republican from committees because she does not like some of the things Rep. Greene has said.

“This action, along with their resolutions to expel Republicans for objecting to the Electoral College count, something the Democrats have done on numerous occasions in past elections, is evidence of the double standard of accountability with Democrats in Washington DC. Whether Washington Democrats, big tech and mainstream media like it or not, First Amendment protections apply to Republicans, as well as Democrats.

In the News: U.S. Rep. Loudermilk rails against Democratic ‘double standards’

  The Cherokee Tribune News:

"District 11 United States Representative Barry Loudermilk made an appearance in Bartow County last week, addressing the political fallout of the Jan. 6 riots in Washington, D.C.

At a Bartow County Republican function on Jan. 30, Loudermilk said he met with several constituents who were in the nation's capital for the now-infamous pro-Trump demonstration.

'Some of the folks that were there came and visited with us the day before, people that we know and some of you probably know them from Cherokee County, they were up there for the rally,' he said. 'Their plan was to come and stand around the Capitol, as do groups all the time, most of them are usually far-left groups … just to show the strength and support that Trump still had in the nation.' "

In the News: US economy adds 49K jobs in rebound from COVID-fueled loss

  New York Post:

"The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ closely watched jobs report was slightly weaker than economists’ expectations for a gain of 58,000 jobs, according to Wrightson ICAP. The unemployment rate, meanwhile, fell to 6.3 percent from 6.7 percent in December.

While the job market is once again trudging toward recovery, there’s still a long way to go — the economy has only recovered about 12 million of the 22 million jobs it lost when the pandemic hit last spring, federal data show."
