  In the News: Rep. Barry Loudermilk, Others, Propose Way Pete Buttigieg Could Ease Supply Chain Crisis

Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-GA-11) and nearly 90 other members of the U.S. House of Representatives this week urged Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to allow certain 18-20-year-olds to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce.

This, Loudermilk and other members of Congress said in a letter to Buttigieg, to help alleviate the nation’s growing supply-chain emergency. The representatives said there are too few truckers on the road to meet demands. They asked the Department of Transportation (DOT) to proceed with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA’s) Under-21 Commercial Driver Pilot Program.

Three days after the World Series-winning Atlanta Braves rolled past the Coca-Cola Roxy during their parade through The Battery Atlanta, Cobb County’s movers and shakers packed the inside of the concert venue to give a hero’s welcome to Braves manager Brian Snitker.

“I tell you what, there is something so incredibly uniting for Cobb, for our community, for Atlanta,” said John Loud, chairman of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. “And I just cannot thank enough the Atlanta Braves organization — what you guys have delivered, not only from the Battery and the ballpark and the experience and the community engagement from our nonprofits, and so on. But you even delivered us a World Series within five years.”

  In the News: Your Money Is Now Losing Close to 1 Percent of Its Value Every 30 Days, According to Labor Bureau Data

The U.S. dollar is now losing close to 1 percent of its value every 30 days, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released on Wednesday.

Currently, inflation of the U.S. dollar is at its highest level since 1990. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of the average monthly change in the price for goods and services paid by urban consumers, increased 0.9 percent last month, more than doubling September’s 0.4 percent increase.
