  In the News: Capitol Police IG to Investigate GOP Spying Claims
 
  The Hill:

The inspector general for the U.S. Capitol Police has agreed to investigate the force’s practices following accusations from Republican lawmakers that USCP is spying on them and their visitors.

In a detailed letter obtained by The Hill, Capitol Police forcefully denied any wrongdoing, laying out a system for reviewing people who attend events with elected officials largely at lawmaker request.

  In the News: Inflation Hits Another 40-Year High as Consumer Prices Surge to 7.5%
 
  New York Post:

Runaway inflation skyrocketed to its highest rate in 40 years in January as consumer prices surged 7.5% from 12 months ago — forcing the average American household to fork out an extra $276 per month.

The latest spike, which outstripped the 7.2% increase predicted by economists, marked the highest annual increase for consumer prices since February 1982, the Labor Department said Thursday.

  In the News: Lockheed Martin gets Air Force LMXT Tanker Contract, Could Add 1,000 New Jobs
 
  American Military News:

Lockheed Martin’s Marietta plant could be one of two nationwide to build the LMXT aerial fuel tanker plane, pending a contract award from the U.S. Air Force.

Speaking from the hangar where the aircraft will one day be constructed, Gov. Brian Kemp said the selection could create up to 1,000 new Lockheed jobs atop more than 5,000 already employed in Marietta.

  In the News: IRS Warning: Scammers Work Year-Round; Stay Vigilant
 
  IRS:

As the new year begins, the Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers to protect their personal and financial information throughout the year and watch out for IRS impersonation scams, along with other schemes, that try to trick people out of their hard-earned money.

These schemes can involve text message scams, e-mail schemes and phone scams. This tax season, the IRS also warns people to watch out for signs of potential unemployment fraud.
