  Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) announced that nineteen students from Georgia’s 11th Congressional District have received appointments to attend a U.S. military service academy.

“Being accepted to one of our nations exceptional military service academies is a life changing achievement that requires hard work and determination from a very young age. It’s a tremendous honor to have nominated these students, because the nomination process is a responsibility my office takes very seriously. Our academy selection board only selects the best and brightest from Georgia’s 11th Congressional district. Congratulations on being among those chosen to represent our state and district at some of the most revered institutions in our nation.”

  In the News: Inflation hits fresh 40-year high in May with consumer prices surging 8.6%
  
  Fox Business:

Inflation barreled ahead in May, rising more than expected as supply chain constraints, the Russian war in Ukraine and strong consumer demand continued to keep consumer prices running near a 40-year-high.

The Labor Department said Friday that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods including gasoline, groceries and rents, rose 8.6% in May from a year ago. Prices jumped 1% in the one-month period from April. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.7% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists.
