  In the News: Rep. Loudermilk discusses police reform on the House floor

"Members of Congress from both political parties say protests that swept across the nation have policing and police brutality at the top of their agenda. They want to do something to reduce the number of people — especially Black people — who are killed by law enforcement.

Georgia U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, for example, used his time on the House floor to criticize Democrats for a bill he said would unfairly punish police officers who generally do good work. He mentioned the officers who have been assaulted by protesters, as well as the shooting three years ago that targeted Republican congressmen, including himself. These incidents are just as confusing and troubling as the death of George Floyd, Loudermilk said.

  In the News: House Republicans send letter of support to Israel
 
  From Whip Steve Scalise: 

"Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga) and 109 Republican representatives sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirming support for the U.S.-Israel alliance and committing to support Israel’s right to make decisions without outside pressure to ensure defensible borders.

The move follows several letters led by Democrat Members of Congress threatening the collapse of bipartisan Congressional support for Israel. The Republican letter affirms common democratic values between our nations and voices strong support for President Trump’s Vision for Peace Plan."
