Press Release: Judge Amy Coney Barrett Will Apply the Rule of Law, Not Rewrite It

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after President Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett as the next Supreme Court Justice:

“Today, President Trump executed the powers entrusted to him under Article II, Section two, Clause two of the United States Constitution by nominating Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. The highest court in the land is a last refuge for many seeking justice and leaving a vacancy unfilled for an unreasonable amount of time could result in a constitutional crisis.

“President Trump’s nomination of Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court should reassure all Americans that he is dedicated to appointing judges who will uphold the Constitution and apply the law as it was written, not individuals looking to advance a political agenda. I look forward to the Senate confirming her.”

The vice president’s comments capped off the first day of the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference.

Pence got his loudest applause when discussing Trump’s most recent Supreme Court nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett."
