Press Release of the Week [1 of 2]: Rep. Loudermilk: Capitalism Creates Jobs and a Higher Standard of Living

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House voted on the Raise the Wage Act, H.R. 582:

“A $15 minimum wage could potentially undo the tremendous growth we have seen in our economy since President Trump took office; and, this legislation could result in the American economy losing 3.7 million jobs - that’s almost one job lost per-household in the state of Georgia. Press Release of the Week [2 of 2]: Freedom Bell to Ring in Honor of Medal of Honor Recipients and Veterans in Congress

On July 21, 2019, America’s Freedom Bell will ring in honor of the members of the 116th Congress who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Bell will chime every day until all 96 veterans serving in Congress have been recognized, and will subsequently sound for the 3,500 Medal of Honor recipients who risked or gave their lives defending our freedoms. As the bell rings, each member’s name will be read aloud and recorded in a segment of America’s Honor Roll, a document maintained in perpetuity that highlights our nation’s military heroes.

“It is an honor to be recognized amongst my fellow colleagues and members of the U.S. Armed Forces for our service to this great nation,” said Rep. Loudermilk. “I applaud the Spirit of Liberty’s commitment to immortalizing members of our Armed Forces and their families by paying tribute to, and carefully recording, their sacrifices so that generations of Americans may never forget their service and sacrifice.”

More senators and representatives are receiving threats against themselves and/or their families and staff members than at this point in 2018, and last year was the highest ever, according to Capitol Hill Chief of Police Steven A Sund.

“We continue to see the threat assessment cases that we’re opening continue to grow,” Sund told the House Administration Committee Tuesday.

“For fiscal year 2018, we had approximately 4,894 cases. So far, for this year, we have 2,502 cases. So we’re on par to probably break last year’s,” Sund said.
