  In the News: Georgia Unemployment Rate Drops to Historic Low of 3.2%
 
  Gov. Kemp:

Today, Governor Brian P. Kemp applauded Georgia's unemployment rate dropping for the seventeenth straight month to 3.2% for September, an all-time low. Additionally, the number of employed Georgians rose above 5 million for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, and the number of unemployed Georgians was reported at the lowest level since June 2001 (161,786).

  In the News: Biden, Dems’ $3.5T Spending Spree Includes Money for ‘Tree Equity,’ Bias Training
 
  New York Post:

The $3.5 trillion spending bill being pushed by President Biden and Congressional Democratic leadership includes a $3 billion “tree equity” outlay for planting saplings and $25 million on “anti-discrimination and bias training” in the healthcare industry — as well as nearly $79 billion for the Internal Revenue Service to step up its enforcement of tax laws.

Those are just three of the eye-popping provisions in the spending bill, the final text of which was released Saturday and which is set to be debated and voted on by the House later this week.

  In the News: “How About Zero?” Manchin, Sanders Get Heated Behind Closed Doors  
  Axios:

Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) squabbled behind closed doors Wednesday, with Manchin using a raised-fist goose egg to tell his colleague he can live without any of President Biden's social spending plan, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: The disagreement, recounted to Axios by two senators in the room, underscores how far apart two key members remain as the Democratic Party tries to meet its deadline for reaching an agreement on a budget reconciliation framework by Friday.
