U.S. Congressman Barry Loudermilk

Pictured with Congressman Loudermilk is Ji Seong-ho, a North Korean man who escaped the communist nation and now lives in South Korea. Back in January, President Trump recognized his harrowing escape from the rogue nation during his first State of the Union address.

Ji grew up in North Korea during the 1990s and, during this time, the public food distribution system in the country collapsed. Ji scavenged for coal to help feed his family and one day while he was collecting coal, Ji passed out on railroad tracks and awoke later to find that a train had run over his limbs. Ji escaped North Korea on foot, walking thousands of miles using a pair of wooden crutches his father made for him. His father tried escaping too, but was caught and tortured to death.

This week, Congressman Loudermilk joined the Korean Church Coalition for North Korea Freedom (KCC) at the United States Capitol to help advocate for the importance of including human rights talks into our ongoing negotiations with North Korea.

“This bill is a major help for non-profit organizations, like Habitat for Humanity, which provide low cost housing for those in need. The BUILD Act cuts government red-tape by reducing some of the overly burdensome regulations placed on charities by the Dodd-Frank Act.
