Rep. Loudermilk Responds to President’s SOTU

Washington D.C. (February 8, 2023) | Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address to the nation:

"President Biden had the world stage last night, with the opportunity to address the struggles our country, and individuals across the nation, are facing, offer solutions to these problems, and give the country confidence in our future; but he failed miserably.

"Americans who expected to hear about our vulnerability to spying by our top adversary, China, walked away without him even addressing the issue. Those concerned about our economy, which is struggling to avoid a full-blown recession, were only told that the economy is great. For those desperate to hear solutions for the nationwide rampant rise of violent crime against Americans, we were given tough talk about aggressively hunting down and prosecuting those who fraudulently took COVID bailout money.

"Americans concerned about the out-of-control trafficking of drugs, humans, and weapons at our southern border were told the solution is to award the millions who have illegally entered our nation with a path to citizenship.

"And, for those who understand that our federal spending and national debt is so severe it is considered a national security crisis, they only received a litany of big spending ideas and more government programs.

"For a nation desperately needing to feel confidence in our national security, our economy, and new opportunities…we were given none.

"Fortunately, House Republicans are working daily on solutions to make our nation more free, safe, and full or opportunity for all Americans."
