Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after receiving the Benjamin Franklin Public Policy Award from the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) for support of mutual insurance policyholders during the 115th Congress:
“Dr. Benjamin Franklin understood how accessible and affordable insurance helps protect the property and assets of hardworking Americans, which is why he founded the nation’s first successful mutual insurance company. Franklin’s vision has paved the way for thousands of small and locally owned insurance companies to provide Americans with policies to protect their livelihood. I am proud to support a free and open market for consumers and insurance providers.” Background: • The Benjamin Franklin Public Policy Award was established in 2003 and is given to federal legislators who demonstrate their support for the insurance industry, enact legislation that preserves a free and open market environment, and work to strengthen the relationship between insurers and the insured. • Every two years, NAMIC members travel to Capitol Hill to present the award to lawmakers who have earned them as a result of their work during the previous congress. |
