U.S. House votes broadly to condemn Trump’s Syrian troop withdrawal

The U.S. House on Wednesday approved a resolution condemning President Donald Trump’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from northern Syria.
From the Georgia Recorder:

"The U.S. House on Wednesday approved a resolution condemning President Donald Trump’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from northern Syria.

The resolution passed the House with broad bipartisan support, delivering a stinging rebuke to the president. The final vote was 354-60.

All of Georgia’s Democrats voted for the resolution. Georgia Republicans split, with Rick Allen of Augusta, Tom Graves of Ranger and Barry Loudermilk of Cassville voting no. Jody Hice, a Greenboro Republican, answered present.

Loudermilk said through a spokesman’s emailed statement that he struggled with his decision, but felt rushed and uncomfortable with how the vote was handled.

'This resolution didn’t carry the weight of law, nor would it change anything with the tragic situation happening in Syria,' the statement said. 'This vote was a tough decision for me, but I had concerns with some of the language used, and that the resolution was rushed to the House floor without going through the normal process. I believe if we are going to pass a resolution declaring the ‘sense of Congress,’ the members of Congress should be included in the process.' " READ MORE
