Loudermilk Supports Iran Accountability Act

The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that imposes strong sanctions on Iran. Rep. Loudermilk (R-GA) issued the following statement after voting in support of these important national security measures:

“It should be no surprise to anyone that immediately after agreeing to the Obama Administration’s deal to lift sanctions on Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism began violating the terms of the agreement. However, the Administration buries their head in the sand, ignoring these blatant violations. Since the President refuses to take action, House Republicans have passed strong measures to stop the expansion of Iran’s nuclear program. It’s time we take bold and decisive action to protect the American people, and I applaud my colleagues for taking a stand.”

Background

The Iran Accountability Act, H.R. 5631, is one of three bills that address concerns that Iran is not holding up their end of the President’s Iran Nuclear Deal. The two others are: the U.S. Financial System Protection Act, H.R. 4992, and the No Heavy Water From Iran Act, H.R. 5119.
