Rep. Barry Loudermilk Votes to Protect the Unborn from Late-Term Abortions

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) has issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act of 2015:
“Two years ago today, Americans were shocked to learn of the grave atrocities being carried out by Dr. Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist convicted of killing babies born during ‘so called’ abortions. While Dr. Gosnell’s case made national headlines, millions of unborn children, capable of feeling pain, are losing their lives each year. “While the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36) does not ultimately put an end to all abortion, it is a crucial step toward establishing legal protections for innocent, unborn children and saving lives. According to a report by CNS News, roughly 10,850 abortions occur on pain-capable babies each year. H.R. 36 will save these children. “As a culture, we should not stand idle or refuse to act when given the opportunity to save lives. I am saddened this bill does not ultimately save the lives of all unborn babies, but I’m encouraged that lives will be saved that otherwise would not have been.” |
